church music does not include Celine Dion... sorry!

So... music is like one of my top favorite things about church. Tonight my roommate and I went to our stake music fireside. It was just musical number after musical number... it was absolutely fabulous. Many of my most favorite hymns were performed and I loved it except... Celine Dion performed. Well... Celine Dion did not perform but, one of her song surely was performed at the fireside. I know that the song was titled "The Prayer" so you think prayer equals church. yes and no... it was a little too pop for my taste. Sorry! That is just how I feel. Love the song but not for a church fireside. I looked at my roommate and could barely contain my laughter because I felt so awkward. Oh... it was a moment to be remembered for sure!

Thanksgiving (and Cheesecake Factory) cannot come any sooner...

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to go home on Tuesday!  Words cannot even express the excitement that will overcome me when I get on that plane and leave this state.  I have not seen my family for over 3 months... which is a very long time for me.  I had a mini breakdown the other day while talking to my mom because I cannot wait to go home.  It really was no big deal, but now she is calling me telling me all about these fun things we are going to do when I get home to make me feel better.  I love my mom.  Today she called and told me that she is going to take me to Cheesecake Factory when she picks me up from the airport.  She also told me not to look too trashy when I get off the plane since we will be going to Cheesecake Factory haha... I love her!

Attention Fellow Wal-Mart Shoppers!!!

Last night my roommate Jessie and I went to Wal-Mart for a few necessities. She was not feeling too well, so we decided to let her ride in the cart. We had been in the store for about a half hour and we had passed a thousand workers until... some lame "stocking manager" came up to us and said in her semi-non-feminine voice, "excuse me, you have to get out of the cart." Jessie and me both looked at her with an are you serious look and asked why??? She said again in her semi-non-feminine voice, "well... it is a safety issue" I wanted to say, why don't you go worry about the sketchy high school kids down the other aisle probably stealing merchandise and leave us alone. Earlier, a nice man working asked me how much she cost and I told him that she was a great buy and I just had to put her in the cart. He just laughed and did not say a thing about Jessie needing to get out of the cart. So... the moral of the story is: don't let your friends ride in the shopping cart because it is a SAFETY HAZARD!

I heart Halloween... not really

Most every year I am a Halloween hater... but this year I actually had some fun.  I mean I despise Halloween so much that I  will probably try to pay my kids off so that I don't have to do all the Halloween business. The amount of money I will have to pay them will probably be just as expensive or maybe even less than those dumb costumes they will want to wear. Anyways... My roommates and I made dinner in a pumpkin which, was very delicious.  Then my roommate Jessie and I went to a party and we had a fabulous time.  We were not planning on dressing up or anything, but we heard about a party at the last minute and decided to go.  We had to dress up or else... we would look extremely LAME!  We put our costumes together in a couple hours and we looked mighty fine if I do say so myself.  There were lots of fun activities and dancing at the party and most important... lots of good friends!!!

We were Captain Underpants!
Yes... we are wearing sexy white boys briefs!

Derek and me at the party!

The best three little pigs ever and me!

I voted YES on Prop 8!!!

I was really excited when I saw that my ballot came in the mail last week.  So many people were telling me that they had received their ballots in the mail and I was very perturbed that I had not received mine.  I checked the mail for about a week straight between the hours of noon and 1pm when the mail man comes.  A little hidden fact about me... I love mail so yes I know the hour of when the mail man(person) will arrive.  To be completely honest... I am about a billion times more excited to vote YES on prop 8 than to vote for the POTUS.  Is that unpatriotic of me?  Well... I am over it.  So get out there and vote kids!  Here is a pic of my finished product that I sent in the mail today!

Bless Spark Notes...

Yes... I am using spark notes. And... yes I am a college student and you think I would have grown out of that, but heck no. There are a bunch of novels that I am supposed to read for my humanities class, but lets be honest I am not the fastest reader in the world. I am suppose to read Frankenstein by tomorrow, but when I have a billion other assignments I cannot take time to read this entire book. This reconfirms why I am not an English major. The only assignment I have to do regarding Frankenstein is only worth 10 POINTS. I am sorry but 10 points is not worth all that reading. I don't feel that bad I mean... my Dad told me to go rent the movie, at least I am reading. Thanks Dad for reaffirming the little importance the reading of Frankenstein has on my education.

Ketchup... I mean time to catch up

It has been a very long time since I have posted so here I go (short version):

A new semester has started and it is kicking my trash... what's new there?
A found a place to live after weeks of searching.  I like it.  It is a house south of campus.  My good friend Derek and I are neighbors, still not sure how much he loves that. haha
I saw a boy on campus wearing a "Romosexual" t-shirt (as in Tony Romo on the Dallas Cowboys).  Can we say embarrassing? I really wanted to slap him.
I got glasses and I actually don't mind wearing them when... I am doing hw and driving.  For those who know of my challenges with parking an automobile, I would just like to say that problem is slowly fading with my new glasses.
I have a confession.  If I have one thing that I do love about myself it is my hair, I admit it.
So... the most recent adventure in the life of Danielle is... drum roll please!

I love my long hair!!!

I cut it all off!!!  This is the shortest my hair has been since like 1st grade!

It is all gone.  well... it is in the mail to our friends at locks of love.

Back in Provo...

I have a few pieces of news I would like to share with the world.  I made the drive from California back to Provo and it was a very sad day, but it had to be done.  I did the trip all by myself and I am very proud of that.  I was singing for 9 1/2 blissful hours in the car.  That singing time is probably the closest I will get to paradise for awhile seeing as I am no longer in California.

There are 2 reasons I am happy to be back in Provo... and only 2.

Reason #1
I can talk on my cell phone while drive without getting a hefty fine.

Reason #2
The tears that came to my eyes from pure joy when I saw this lovely home in Provo.  I mean the yard is to die for...

Karma is a...

I am back in California where the gas prices are high and you can no longer talk on your cell phone while driving without a hand-free device.  Both of these things are a small price to pay to be in this blessed land.  Since gas is a million dollars, I try not to drive unless I absolutely need to go some place... seeing as I have no job and no school I guess I don't really NEED to go anywhere but, you know what I mean. So today I drove somewhere and it was the first time I operated a vehicle for about 48 hours.  I am pretty sure i had not forgotten how to drive in these past two days.  So many horrible things were happening to me on the road and... i must say that none of them were my fault.  I was driving in a neighborhood and a kid shot out of his driveway on his bike right in front of me and did not even look for cars.  I almost hit and killed him.  That definitely would have made my day.  Good thing the number one thing i fear is hitting a child so I was definitely under the 25 MPH speed limit in the neighborhood.  Seriously though?  Where were the parents of the kid?  Parents should be well aware if they have idiots for children and if the kids do not know how to properly play outside then they should probably have some supervision.  Getting off subject.. a parenting blog will come later.  Then a little bit later (it was dark outside) a man was riding his bike wearing all black and i would have hit him if Kelly Jo had not yelled "BIKER!!!"  Dear freaking bicyclists can we please bust out the highlighter colored shirts for evening rides.  Good Gosh!!!  But the really kicker came when I was waiting to turn left into a shopping center when the car next to me (who was also turning left because there are two lanes that simultaneously turn left... i know it's a new concept) came into my lane almost side swiping my front end while we are turning, cut me off and stopped because they had to turn into the first row of parking stalls and stop all of the traffic behind us.  And... guess what... The lovely driver was not only driving like crap but she was talking on her cell phone NOT hands-free!  On July 1, 2008 the hands-free cell phone law came into effect in the state of California.  NEWSFLASH!!! it has been in the news for like... forever!  I often find myself saying "Where is a cop when you need one?" But... Today you know what, law enforcement came through for me. There was a Highway Patrol driving right behind me.  He threw those patriotic red and blue lights on and gave that dumb lady that almost crashed into me and was talking on her cell phone while driving a ticket.  It may be a sin, but I did not feel bad for her one bit.
The moral of the story is Karma is a... you know what I am thinking but I will leave it for your own interpretation.

UGG Boots

So... today was June 4th.  By this time of the year I usually spend my days soaking up the sun, getting tan, and smiling a lot!  None of that is going on. Why?  I will tell you why because I am in Utah and I had on UGG boots in the month of June.  Yes, you read me correctly.  I was wearing UGG boots today in JUNE!!!  It was freezing cold stormy wet out of control weather! I cannot handle this state it has got issues!

Dancing in the Car...

I live in Provo.  I have to do stupid things to keep life exciting.  Sometimes this means that I look like an idiot but... I don't really care.  After Holli and I were done watching The Hills season finale (yes, The Hills is a guilty pleasure for me)  I was driving her home and blasting Usher (another guilty pleasure) in the car and dancing.  Yes, I LOVE dancing in my car.  The car next to us had a guy and girl riding in it and the girl in the passenger seat had the nerve to laugh at me.  She was laughing, with her window down (it was 43 degrees), and her laugh was so loud and obnoxious that I could hear her over my music and my music was REALLY loud!  It was Usher of course he was loud.  She was kidding right?  I am sure she was just laughing to try and cover up how miserable she was on her date, because when she saw how much fun I was having she was jealous.  Yeah... I am sure that's what it was.

By the way... I don't think I have been laughed at like that since the 4th grade.

Driving in Utah Warms My Heart

I drove to Salt Lake and back twice today... more like twice in 6 hours. I was glad to do it because I was able to see a friend that I love very much BUT I am pretty sure that I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs every 5 seconds. I contained myself pretty well... for me. Like my good friend Britta would say... I need to work on my road compassion. I used very mild language for me and only yelled a few times like... when I was almost merged into 3 times or when the motorcycles were going over 100 pass me on both sides of my vehicle or when i had to slam on my brakes because the person in front of me thought it would be a great idea to stop in the middle of the FREEWAY so he could not miss the 215 that was a whole 2 miles away. I am glad to report that I made it home safely, just barely! I mean... come on! Really Utah? Really?

Dear Utah,
Get your life together!
Love,
Everyone
P.S. I am not claiming to be the best driver, but I can recognize bad driving when I see it... and I saw it.

I love my life...

There were a couple fairly comical things that happened yesterday all involving BYU intramurals... does that surprise anyone?
First... I went to support my friends at their kickball game. Guess who my friends were playing... my ward! Perfect! I don't exactly have a ton of friends in my ward and cheering against them probably was not helping my pool of ward friends. I guy in my ward came up to me and asked me if I was Romina... Romina is my roommate. Awesome. I have met this kid about 3 times, been to his apartment a few times, live about 10 yards from him, and Romina does not even go to our ward. This guy is fairly good looking so I guess I will let it slide.
Second... after the kickball game I went to my friend's bowling league and watched them dominate. A boy on the bowling team at the lane next to us was wearing the TIGHTEST black shirt I have ever seen! Me and the girls that were with me could not stop staring. We were kinda hoping that our staring would give him a hint for the next time he goes into public. Every time he stood up to take his turn he had to pull his shirt down so that he would not have a bare midriff. I was embarrassed for him and I am pretty sure he made everyone in a 20 yard radius feel uncomfortable. SERIOUSLY!? Have some consideration for the people around you.

DIMPLES

As you can see in my profile pic... I have dimples when I smile.  These are not just any normal dimples though.  My dimples are high up on my cheeks centered right below my eyes.  Most people have dimples on the sides of their mouths or cheeks, but not me.  I have never been one to be normal so why would my dimples be any different. There have been many occasions when I meet people and smile because... what do you do when you meet people?  You SMILE duh.  After I smile, the people that I have just met will say things like, "Wow, do that again!" or "How do you make your cheeks do that thing?" or  "You have the cutest dimples I have ever seen!"  I say thank you and make my dimples appear again for their viewing pleasure.  These reactions are most common.  But then there are other times when I get the strangest comments.  For example...
-In the 8th grade I worked as an office assistant and the attendance lady had the nerve to tell me that my dimples were birth defects.  I still have complex from the attendance lady at age 20.
-Another girl that I knew in elementary and middle school in San Diego liked to call my dimples "sand crabs" and pinch my cheeks every time my dimples appeared.  (If you have ever tried to catch sand crabs and seen my dimples, then it would make sense)
Then came the nickname... There was this group of boys that I hung out with for awhile, but not so much any more.  They enjoyed giving girls nicknames and mine was: Dimples.  Lets just say that my nickname was much kinder than many of the other girls they knew.

So... there is my reasoning for my blog title.  My dimples are something unique I've got going on.  Ya feel me?
